Nagaland’s Covid-19 cases reach 988

Dimapur, July 19 (EMN):
Ten more Covid-19 positive cases were reported on Sunday, taking the state’s tally to 988 so far.

“Out of 79 samples tested, 10 positive cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed. Six in Kohima, two in Mokokchung and one each in Dimapur and Longleng,” the minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, tweeted.

Health authorities have declared 445 patients are ‘recovered’ so far. Conversely, the number of active cases stands at 543.

According to Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, all the positive cases are receiving medical care at the designated Covid-19 hospitals and Covid-19 care centres.

“As per the severity of symptoms, 539 active cases are asymptomatic and two active cases are mild and two active cases are moderate. Till date, a total of 18,465 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 17,517 samples have been received.

“Out of the 11,137 samples received, a total of 11,087 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and out of which 579 samples have tested positive. In addition, a total of 12 103 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat. 11,463samples have tested negative, and 365 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. A total of 2,942 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” he informed.
