Nagaland: ZUF confident of settlement of Naga political issue
Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) stated that it has been participating in the political negotiation with the government of India under the banner of Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) after signing an alliance agreement with certain understanding and conditions. ZUF said that it is ‘confident that the Govt. of India with the support and cooperation of WC-NNPG will consider the long cherished aspiration of Zeliangrong people as and when the Govt. of India resolve and settle the Naga political issue once and for all.’
“Our genuine political demand to live under one single administrative unit is a very long pending political demand which had been well established, registered, recognised and already assured by the Govt. of the India to Zeliangrong people in several occasions to fulfil by way of granting certain model of political arrangement during the prime ministership of Late Mrs Indira Gandhi and Late Mr Rajiv Gandhi. But the genuine political demand of the Zeliangrong people did not fructify due to lack of political will on the part of the past Govt. of India. Now, the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) have complete trust and confidence upon the present day Govt. of India under the strong, decisive and determined Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi and dynamic and vibrant Interlocutor Mr RN Ravi that the long pending political issue of the Zeliangrong people will resolve along with the settlement of Naga political issue,” a press statement from ZUF stated.
Further, ZUF has mourned the demise of two armed Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF) cadres on October 23, 2020 at Soubunglong (Leishok) village under Khoupum police station, Longmai (Noney) District in Manipur.
“The ZTF cadres who were taking rest were attacked by some armed cadres which had compelled the ZTF with no alternative option other than to retaliate in which two cadres who were later identified as Laonuam Balang of Oktan village and Gaijangam Kamei of Longmai part 5 village of Jenchui’s gang had lost their lives,” it stated.
“Confrontation among the brothers without any cause will be a foolish act,” ZUF said while stating that it has been maintaining’ maximum restraint respecting the feeling and sentiment of the Zeliangrong people despite provocations made by Mr. Jenchui’s gang since the day they were expelled from the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF).’
“It is an unconcealable fact that Mr. Jenchui’s gang has been resorting to different forms of sinister campaign with deliberate intention to malign the good image of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) by disguising and misusing the name of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF). Mr Jenchui’s gang has been resorting to extortion, kidnapping, obstructing to developmental works in Zeliangrong areas, intimidating and threatening the people by misusing the name of Zeliangrong people for quite some time, which is well aware by the general public. But the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) finds no merit to counter Mr Jenchui’s gang indulging in unlawful activities considering that they will realize and mend their evil ways and also that the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) is concentrating and focusing on the political issue striving to secure the future of Zeliangrong people,” read the statement.
