Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): The minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CM Chang launched a virtual tour of the Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP) at Rangapahar in Dimapur, on June 5 to mark World Environment Day.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the director of NZP, Dr. Prabhat Kumar, shared that since the zoo has been shut amid the lockdown, the authorities have provided an opportunity for the public to get a virtual tour starting Friday through their videos on YouTube.

“This year, because of the lockdown, as a safety measure for public and zoo animals, the zoo had to close down; since public cannot visit the zoo, we are taking the zoo to the people,” informed Kumar.

Dr. Kumar shared that its informative videos with step-by-step narration will also help people understand the various types of animals present in the zoo.

“Usually when it’s opened, public is on their own to see the animals with limited information on the animal or bird, but our virtual tour gives maximum information and visuals to the viewer,” said Kumar. It’s informed that ‘Nagaland Zoological Park’ is the name of YouTube channel.
