KOHIMA — The Zhadima Students’ Union (ZSU), on Wednesday, conducted a plantation and cleanliness drive in the village.
An update from the union stated that its members have planted 100 saplings of Oak trees and Monkey beans donated by the Kohima Forest Division from Zhadima new gate to the old gate. It added that students from all the eight khels have cleaned the stretch from Zhadima gate to the sports complex.
It mentioned that every year on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice, ZSU conducts its annual cleanliness drive in the village in a bid to keep the village clean and to spread the message of cleanliness among the student community and to the public.
It stated that this year the students planted trees with the hope to contribute towards a cleaner and greener planet, creating the need to protect the environment. On the occasion, the students also put up three notice boards at three strategic locations in the village.
The plantation and cleanliness drive was led by ZSU office bearers headed by its president, Medolenuo Loucü. Leaders of the Zhadima village women society also took part in the drive to encourage the students.
