Nagaland: Zapami village community burial ground inaugurated

Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): The Zapami village community burial ground was inaugurated by Keyirangding Hegui, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Phek, on Friday.

Addressing the gathering at Zapami Heritage hall, Hegui expressed happiness over thecompletion of the project, which was constructed under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

He called upon the villagers to continue to put concerted efforts for all round development of the community, while maintaining that every village in Nagaland has its own charm in terms of cultural, traditional practices, scenic beauty and climatic condition.

Hegui said that Zapami village, with its scenic beauty, valley type paddy cultivation and its traditional practices, has potential to become a tourist attraction. He also called upon the people to capitalise on its rich resources and turn the village into a tourist hotpot.

Zapami Village Development Board (VDB) secretary Kedoutsolhi Wetsah informed that the community burial ground was constructed at a cost of INR 29 lakh.

Vekhrolo Koza, Block Development Officer (BDO) Pfutsero, Zapami Village Council chairman Zewekha Wetsah and GB Wekhazii Kreo also spoke at the event, which was chaired by Lhiwepe Khutsoh.
