Nagaland: YouthNet conducts training for taxi drivers
Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): YouthNet, in partnership with All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA), conducted a two-day capacity building training for local taxi drivers its office in Kohima on November 24 and 25.
Speaking at the launch programme, Nuneseno Chase, director of YouthNet, has stressed on the importance of training the local taxi drivers as they are the first point of contact and the face of Nagaland for tourists, who visit the towns and villages. He added that they have become the backbone of the tourism industry in particular as they represent the city or town they operate in, an update from YouthNet stated.
Delivering a short speech on the occasion, Sobu, ANTA convenor, acknowledged YouthNet and Nagaland Tourism department for their support and assistance in training the drivers and giving them exposure to professionalism at work. He was accompanied by Neibalie, member of ANTA action committee.
The training programme was launched by Veyielo Duolo, additional director of Tourism. He has appreciated YouthNet for introducing innovative programmes to empower the people and the youth of Nagaland. He encouraged YouthNet and ANTA to work closely together to organise more programmes not only in the capital but all other districts.
He further motivated the taxi drivers to take the training seriously which would benefit them in the long run.
It mentioned that the training and professional education was imparted to create awareness on the need for excellent customer service, share best practices and habits that need to be incorporated to improve customer satisfaction, educate about industry standards, share anecdotes and tips to overcome common challenges faced by taxi drivers and to improve general knowledge about the state, the history, culture and its people.
Altogether, 32 taxi drivers successfully completed the two-day capacity building training, which was supported by department of Tourism, government of Nagaland.
Orientation for taxi drivers held
In a related programme, an orientation programme for four wheeler and two wheeler taxi drivers was held in the conference hall of DC’s office in Kohima on November 25.
A DIPR report stated that the programme was held in regard to the “Online booking of taxis” in view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival 2022.
Highlighting on the importance of online taxi service, DC of Kohima, Shanavas C, exhorted the taxi drivers to efficiently utilise the online app application for the benefit of the citizens and to maintain discipline and provide the best quality service to all tourist visiting the district.
CEO of Go Taxi made a powerpoint presentation on the usage of the online App and explained the modalities on how to operate the online App to all the taxi drivers.
To kick start the online taxi service, 100 four wheelers taxi and 50 two wheelers taxi were selected in consultation with ANTA, Two Wheelers’ Association and CEO of Go Taxi.
