Nagaland Wrestling Association selects wrestlers for national c’ship

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has selected belt and mas wrestlers to represent it in the forthcoming 12th All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation (AITWPF) National Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Championship 2024.

According to a press release, the event is scheduled to be held in Dehradun from October 3 to the 6th.

The selection was held on Thursday at IG Stadium, Multi-Purpose Hall “B,” with 61 wrestlers from the NWA’s three affiliated units participating in the day-long selection trial camp.

For men’s senior belt and mas wrestling, in the +100 kg category, Menuosetuo Yiese and Rukukhoto Khusoh were selected. For the 100 kg category, Venuzo Dawhuo and Thepfuvilie Neikha were chosen. In the 90 kg category, Hülüyi D. Vadeo and Vevokho Ruho were selected.

Kuvenu Puro and Seyiejalie Gwirie (competing only in the belt category) were chosen for the 80 kg category. For the 71 kg category, Kuluvezo Soho and Rokuokehie Khawakhrie (competing only in the belt category) were selected.

In the 65 kg category, Lhupra Vero and Neikhotuo Keditsu were chosen. The 59 kg category saw Wezutsho Venuh and Nelhouvituo Suohumvü selected. For the 54 kg category, Kezevikho Sachü and Vichülhoutuo Rhetso were chosen. In the 49 kg category, Tsuveto Resuh and Zhovi Kehie were selected. Pude Hesuh was chosen in the 45 kg category.

For men’s senior mas wrestling only, for the 80 kg category, Zhopao Movi was chosen. In the 71 kg category, Bisekhoto Gwirie was selected.

For the senior women’s belt and mas wrestling, in the +70 kg category, Vikehenuo Zümvü and Thejaneinuo Thevo were chosen. In the 70 kg category, Haizeuyile was selected. For the 63 kg category, Thujosulü Tetseo and Vetavolü Puyo-o were selected.

In the 56 kg category, Vekhonielü Cürha and Vizoneino Keditsu were chosen. In the 50 kg category, Megolhoukhonuo Thevo and Nosezono Kuotsu were selected.

For men’s cadet belt wrestling in the 71 kg category, Nubasa Rhakho was chosen. In the 66 kg category, Mulukhro Nakro and Mulubi Dzudo were selected. For the 59 kg category, Kevilekho Peki and Peramreudibo Hegwang were chosen. In the 54 kg category, Thepfukedo Kimho was selected.

For women’s cadet belt wrestling, in the 70 kg category, Khrielhounuo Thevo was chosen. In the 45 kg category, Kulungolu Nakro was selected.

Further, it mentioned, a coaching camp for the selected wrestlers will be held at IG Stadium from September 25 onwards. All selected wrestlers have been requested to attend the camp.
