Nagaland wins Veterinarian Achievers Award

The award was given during a two-day international conference held at NASC Complex (Pusa), New Delhi, on July 26 and 27 on the theme “Emerging challenges in veterinary profession.” The conference was jointly organised by the Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) and Indian Immunological Limited (IIL) with the support of Pashu Chikitsak Mahasangh, Commonwealth Veterinary Association, and World Veterinary Association. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (GoI); Tarun Shridhar, Secretary of Animal Husbandry; and Dr. Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner (GoI); addressed the conference. Tage Taki, minister of Animal Husbandry, Agricultre, Horticulture and Fisheries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, graced the conference as special guest. Top scientists and experts in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary services deliberated on topics such as food safety and nutritional security, combating antimicrobial resistance, prevention and control of infectious diseases, animal welfare strategy, and new paradigms in livestock feeding and management under climatic change scenario. Dr. C Kadian, president of Indian Veterinary Association, conveyed gratitude to the veterinary professionals nationwide, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new government, for establishing a separate ministry for animal husbandry. Dr. Peter Thornber, president of Commonwealth Veterinary Association, and Dr. Abdul Rahman, World Veterinary Association, also participated in the conference.
