
Members of the Nagaland University Pencak Silat team at the
All India Inter University Championship 2024–25, held at Kristu Jayanti
College, Bengaluru.
- DIMAPUR — Students
from Nagaland University secured a total of five medals at the All India Inter
University Pencak Silat Championship 2024–25, held at Kristu Jayanti College in
Bengaluru from April 14 to the 16th.
- The event, hosted by Kristu Jayanti College in collaboration
with Bengaluru North University, saw the participation of over 750 athletes
representing 68 universities across the country, according to an update.

- Nagaland University athletes won two gold and three bronze
medals in the Tanding (Sparring) category. The gold medallists were Kevin and
Liike Kibami, while bronze medals went to Akhumse A Sangtam, Puloka K Achumi,
and Niepuleno Suokhrie. Among the medals, one gold and one bronze were won by
female athletes.
- The team was led by Assistant Director of Sports Mesanguto
Meru. The university’s sports section, under the guidance of Deputy Director of
Sports Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, had conducted open trials to select top
athletes from the university and affiliated colleges.
- Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik congratulated
the medallists and commended the efforts of Dr. Tiwari and the team manager.
