Nagaland University judo team will compete in the Northeast Zone Inter-University Judo Championship 2025-26 to be held in Punjab from January 15 to 18.

DIMAPUR — The judo team of Nagaland University (NU) is set to represent the institution at the prestigious Northeast Zone Inter-University Judo Championship (men and women) 2025-26, hosted by Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab from January 15 to the 18th next.
An update from the University stated that a strong five-member squad comprising three men and two women players would compete under the leadership of team coach, Somnath Chakraborty, a national referee and coach at Nagaland University. It added that Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, deputy director of sports at Nagaland University, would serve as team manager.

The team would depart from headquarters in Lumami on January 11.
It informed that the athletes are currently undergoing a rigorous six-day coaching camp at Lumami headquarters, supervised by coach Chakraborty, to ensure peak performance.
Meanwhile, the staff and students of NU have conveyed best wishes to the team for the upcoming championship.
