Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN): The Hindu Cell of Nagaland University, in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lumami, observed the ‘Mother Language Day’ on February 21 in the conference hall of KV, NU.
An update from Nagaland University stated that vice chancellor in-charge of the university Prof. B Kilangla, CoE of the university Dr. Maongsangba, university director of IQAC Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Shailendra Sharma, faculty, administrative staff, students and parents attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Prof. B. Kilangla Jamir, has emphasised on the importance of mother tongue by pointing out that all the tribes in Nagaland have their own distinctive languages. She also shared her personal experience related to mother language day programmes in the university.
In a special address, Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha pointed out that the development of mother tongue is happening continuously and emphasised on the promotion of mother tongue while respecting all languages. He also stated that the future of all languages is bright, and none are threatened by any other language.
The guest of honour, Dr. Maongsangba, while citing the importance of mother tongue, spoke on the need to develop local languages of Nagaland. He also praised the efforts made by the organisers, particularly Ashish Kumar, Hindi officer, for organising the various competitions such as singing, painting, quiz, and slogan.
Report stated that prizes were presented to the winners of the various competitions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by assistant professor of EVS department, Dr. Latonglila Jamir.
