Nagaland University Kohima Campus to resume operations
KOHIMA — The Kohima campus of Nagaland University (NU) will resume normal operations with immediate effect following temporary suspension of its protest on Thursday.
Spearheaded by students, research scholars, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff of NU, Kohima campus, the protest was called off in response to what they cited as “positive steps taken by the University authority and district administration” in addressing their demands.

However, they issued a warning in a circular, stating that “the protest may resume at any time in the event of any lapses from the authorities concerned”.
Earlier on October 18, the Nagaland University Students’ Union (NUSU) Kohima, Nagaland University Non-Teaching Staff Association (NUNTSA), Nagaland University Teaching Association (NUTA), and Nagaland University Scholars Forum (NUSF) of Kohima staged a protest on the campus against alleged threats directed at the pro-vice chancellor of the university.
NUSU Kohima informed this newspaper that four resolutions were passed after the protest yesterday. These included a demand for a written apology from the “culprits.”
The associations condemned what they viewed as the university authority’s “negligence” from the headquarters. They also called for intervention of the state government to ensure the safety of the Kohima campus community and prevent any untoward incidents in the future.
It said that the fact-finding committee must submit its report within the stipulated 48-hour timeframe; otherwise, the campus will initiate further actions. The law enforcing agency would be working on the matter, they informed.
