Nagaland U-19 to face Meghalaya in Cooch Behar Trophy final at Home
DIMAPUR — The under-19 (U-19) cricket teams of Nagaland and Meghalaya are set to face off in the finals of the Cooch Behar Trophy 2023-24 for the Plate Group from December 29 onwards at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Chümoukedima.
The Cooch Behar Trophy is India’s national four-day cricket tournament for players under the age of 19. The trophy has been held annually since the 1945-46 season, according to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), and it is managed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“Prominent Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, who have made it big in the national and international scene with massive records to last, all started here in the Cooch Behar Trophy,” the update read.
Nagaland had defeated Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh before beating Sikkim again in the semifinals by 122 runs. Meghalaya, on the other hand, only lost to Nagaland. They thrashed Arunachal by 297 runs in the semis.
The NCA has invited the sports loving community of Nagaland to come and witness the match and encourage the team. The match will be played from December 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024, from 8:30 am onwards.
