DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Transport department has ordered a departmental inquiry into allegations that selected candidates in a recent Nagaland State Transport (NST) recruitment drive were asked to pay unauthorised cash amounts during the joining process.
In a press release issued on Monday, the department said it has taken cognisance of reports in social and print media alleging that the office of the general manager, NST, demanded an unauthorised fee from candidates selected through the recently conducted Departmental Recruitment Board (DRB) process under NST.
The department clarified that it has not issued any directive nor authorised any official to collect any amount from selected candidates for paperwork or any other purpose.
“In the light of this, the department will constitute a departmental inquiry committee to inquire into the allegation,” the release said.

It also said that the advisor for Transport has directed the department to immediately set up an inquiry committee to look into the matter.
“Necessary disciplinary action shall be initiated based on the findings of the inquiry committee,” it added.
The clarification follows allegations made by selected candidates in a recent NST recruitment examination, who had claimed they were asked to pay INR 10,000 each in cash during the joining process.
The candidates, who are undergoing training, had alleged that they were called to the NST general manager’s office in Dimapur on December 12, 2025, with original documents for joining and were asked to bring INR 10,000 in cash each, purportedly for paperwork.
NST had earlier advertised vacancies on September 12, 2025, for 13 bus conductors, nine mechanic helpers and one multi-tasking staff post. Oral interviews were conducted between November 18 and 21, and results were declared on November 27.
