Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): A three-day training of trainers (ToT) for district ASHA trainers comprising of district community mobilisers (DCM) and block ASHA coordinator (BAC), organised by National Health Mission (NHM), was held from October 26 to the 28th at DUDA Guest House in Kohima.
An update from NHM stated that the inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Thorhusie Katiry, NHM mission director; Dr. Mereninla Senlem, NHM state programme officer; and Dr. Tinurenla Anichari, NHM deputy director.
It stated that both Dr. Thorhusie Katiry and Dr. Mereninla Senlem have encouraged the trainees to proactively participate and learn as much as possible so that they could, in turn, provide effective training to the ASHA at the block levels. The trainees were exhorted to always provide handholding support to the ASHA at the grassroots for all activities and also to take advantage of all available platforms like the village health and nutrition day (VHND), church programmes, various village meetings etc to educate the community on health related issues.
The resource persons of the training were Dr. Devajit Bora, senior consultant of CP; Pumani Kalita, consultant of CP; and Sandhani Gogoi, consultant of CP from Regional Resource Centre-Northeast (RRC-NE), NHSRC, Guwahati.
Report stated that a total of 58 DCM and BAC have attended the training.
