Nagaland to seal its borders with Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh
Nagaland will seal the inter-state borders and international borders two days prior to the voting day, on February 27, to ensure a peaceful polling.
“Looking at the aspect of the polling day, we have requested the neighbouring state of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur to ensure that two days before the election, the borders are sealed so that any apprehension of any outside elements coming inside the state and creating trouble is been taken care of,” Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sandeep M Tamgadge was quoted as saying by AIR News in an exclusive interview.
The exercise has been done at the level of the chief secretary- DGP Nagaland, the update added.
For the international border, request was made to the Assam Rifles deployed in the border area along the Indo-Myanmar, to ensure increased security during the election process, to which AR have agreed.
Along with the Assam Rifles, the Village Guards along the Indo-Myanmar border districts of Mon, Shamator, Noklak, Kiphire and Meluri, will be used for security, added Tamgadge.
