Dimapur, May 16(EMN): Considering the requirement of Remdesivir in various states and UTs and to ensure its adequate availability, a substantial increase has been made in the overall production and allocation, the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers DV Sadananda Gowda informed on Sunday.
In a Twitter update, Gowda announced that the allocation of the anti-viral drug for states and UTs had increased to 76, 00, 000 (76 lakh) vials.
The Remdesivir allocation announced on Sunday includes for the period of April 21 to May 23.
The share of the anti-viral drug for Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura is 5000 vials each, and 4000 vials for Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, 6000 vials for Manipur, while Assam will receive 60000.
State governments and UTs have been asked to monitor proper distribution within the state/UT covering government and private hospitals as appropriate and in line with judicious use, a PIB report stated.
Further, the Ministry has advised the state governments / UTs to place adequate purchase orders with the marketing companies immediately, if they have not already done yet, for the quantity that they want to purchase out of allocation for the state/ UT as per supply chain in close coordination with liaison officers of the companies.
The coordination with private distribution channels in the state could also be made, it added.
