Nagaland to observe National Consumer Day

Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LMCP) and the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) will observe a week-long National Consumer Day from December 18 at the state capital Kohima.

An update from NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi, who is also a recipient in the national award for consumer protection, stated that December 24 is observed as the national consumer day every year. He stated that it was on this day the Consumer Protection Act 1986 received the assent of the President of India adding the enactment of the Act was considered as a history in the consumer movement in the country.

He stated that the state government and NVCO would be observing the week-long National Consumer Day from December 18 to the 24 on the theme “The sustainable consumer”. He further stated that the week-long event would highlight the rights and responsibilities of the consumers and other several areas based on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
