Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) has declared the month of October as ‘Month of the girl child.’ A press release from NSSWB informed that it has planned to initiate various activities in Kohima and other districts through the district-level centre for women namely MSK, 181- women helpline and Sakhi-One Stop Centres (OSC) on the objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
As a part of the noble campaign, a programme was organised at Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home by the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), 181- Women Helpline and (MSK) team on October 15.
Stating that every child has a dream and wants to accomplish their dreams in life, a painting competition was organised on the theme “Little girls with dreams become women with vision.” It stated students from Classes A-10 have participated in the competition. Prizes were also given away to the winners of the competition.
Noel Khate of Women Helpline delivered a short talk on mental well-being and its importance, while the warden of KODH pronounced the welcome note.
Chairperson of the programme, Vitsino Iralu of Women Helpline gave a brief introduction of BBBP and shared the significance of the Girl Child Day. MSK, Women Welfare Officer, Neipechaü Mepfhuo, delivered the vote of thanks.
