Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): In observance of the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan,’ village self-governance campaign, a press conference was held in the chief secretary’s conference hall on April 13. Rovilatuo said that the government of India was implementing series of programmes targeting the rural masses for their uplift. However different departments executing the programmes are not aware of each other’s activities, he said. For this reason, he said, the departments are unable to ‘build the desired convergence’ when implementing the programmes.
For said reason, the Home secretary said that the government of India had come up with “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan,” where all the agencies and departments can come together and share their activities and also disseminate information regarding their activities to the masses.
As a part of the campaign scheduled for April 14, the department of Social Welfare will organize a programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Other commemorative events will be held at the national and district level. The department will also invite school, colleges, and other departments to participate in the programme, it was informed.
It also mentioned that the department of Public Health Engineering in collaboration with district administrations, would be organizing a state-wide cleanliness campaign in all the Gram Panchayats especially areas which are not open-defecation-free on April 18.
On April 20, the department of Food & Civil Supplies and the department of Power will organize an event for which 838 villages have been identified to be covered under the Ujjwala Panchayat programme. The department will then disstribute LPG gas cylinders and LED bulbs.
Also on April 24, the department of Rural Development will organize a state level VDB and village council conference, where about 6000 members are expected to attend. The department has informed that seminar and conference will be organized and resource person will be roped in from outside the state.
Gram Shakti Abhiyan (block / district beneficiary Sammelan / recognition) programme will be held on April 28 by the department of RD. On the day beneficiaries will be given entitlements of important schemes namely Pradhan Mantri, Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sobhagya Yojana at various district level.
The updates mentioned also the Ayushman Bharat Abhiyaan programme, which will be held on April 30 by the department of Health and Family Welfare. During the Health and Welfare event, information regarding medical insurance / Ayushmaan Bharat scheme and others such as vaccination, mother-child care etc. would be disseminated among the targeted beneficiaries.
Further, Kisan Kalvaan Karvashala programme (block level) will be held on May 2 by the department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Awareness campaign and training programmes will be organised at block level in order to disseminate information as well as intervention for doubling the income of farmers by 2022.
Aajeevika and Kaushal Vikas mela, a joint endeavour will be conducted on May 5. Aajeevika Diwas will be celebrated at the national, state, and district and block levels.
