Nagaland to observe constitution day

Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): Nagaland state will observe constitution day and launch year-long state-wide campaign on constitution and fundamental duties on November 26 at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.

An update from DIPR informed through a press release on Friday that the Minister for Justice and Law, CM Chang will attend the occasion as chief guest while senior advocate Additional General Kakheto Sema will deliver a speech on the constitution. The keynote address will be delivered by Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, and welcome address will be delivered by Secretary Justice and Law, Khanrinla T Koza.

The programme is in regard with the on-going year-long campaign which will involve multiple stakeholders, state-level committee, comprising of various administrative heads of different departments, informed the update. The committee has been recently formed under the aegis of the state government headed by principal secretary, Justice and Law/ Medical, R Ramakrishnan as chairman and secretary judicial Nino Iralu as member secretary.

The committee organised a meeting on November 21 to discuss issues related to fundamental duties at the conference hall of Medical department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat which was presided over by Iralu.

Iralu stated that in accordance with the circulation by the Ministry of Justice and Law, a directive has been given to the states to carry out certain activities which are to be compiled as “State Action Plan”. She also ‘encouraged the members to bring new ideas which are factual or solid with their participation in the country-wide mass campaign in the 70th year celebration of constitution and fundamental duties.’

It was decided at the meeting that ‘month-wise activities of the member of departments will be held where all the line departments would perform its respective activities based on its action plan as fundamental duty starting from December this year till November 2020.’ The meeting also resolved that all the members have to submit action plan to the nodal department, State Justice & Law on November 22; and that members should upload video clips to their respective ministry.
