DIMAPUR — The State Oversight Committee (SOC) on Integrated STI, HIV, TB, Hepatitis (ISHTH) on Tuesday discussed on modalities for the upcoming ISHTH campaign which would be carried out in all districts across the state among inmates and clients of prison and other closed settings for screening/ testing and linkages to treatment of STI, HIV, TB and Hepatitis.
The ISHTH campaign would be launched all over the country on May 15 under the aegis of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), informed an update from Health department.
The meeting held at the conference hall of the directorate of Health and Family Welfare in Kohima was chaired by the commissioner and secretary, Y Kikheto Sema, while the modalities and plan of the upcoming campaign was presented by Dr. Bernice D Thapru, NSACS joint director (prevention), and overview of the HIV and AIDS scenario in the state was given by Medo Kire, NSACS deputy director (SIMU).
The SOC meeting was attended by principal director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vibeituonuo M Sachu; NHM mission director, Dr. Ritu Thurr; NSACS project director, Dr. Akuo Sorhie; state TB officer, Dr. Tiasunep; senior officials of Health and Family Welfare, representatives of Social Welfare department, Prison department, development partners and NGO partners.
The meeting also deliberated on two upcoming campaigns namely the Integrated Health Camp (IHC) and Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV and Syphilis (EVTHS) campaign, which was presented by Dr. M Nukshisangla Jamir, NSACS deputy director (BSD).
