Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, April 4: With monsoon season right around the corner, Nagaland will be having a rainy week ahead from April 7 onwards. Widespread rains accompanied with strong winds, lightning, and hailstorm activity will prevail along with other Northeast states with a possibility of heavy spells. A weather forecast report from the Skymet Weather updated on Thursday. The update stated that rains would reduce marginally on April 5 and 6, and only isolated light rains will be witnessed in few places of Nagaland, South Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. It further showed that the region recorded 35.4 mm of rain against its normal of 5.1 mm on April 1. Similar conditions were seen to prevail and each day the actual rainfall exceed its average normal largely during the past three days. During the pre-Monsoon season i.e. from March to May, the average seasonal rainfall for Pan India stands at 132 mm. But the interesting fact is that about 50% of the contribution comes from Northeast India itself. In Northeast India, the main contribution is derived from Arunachal Pradesh followed by Assam and Meghalaya and finally Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, the weather report added.
