Nagaland to celebrate 72nd Republic Day

Kohima, Jan. 25 (EMN): The 72nd Republic Day will be celebrated at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, in the state capital Kohima on Tuesday.
Governor RN Ravi will arrive at the venue to unfurl the National Flag at 9 am before receiving Rashtriya Salute and inspecting the parade. After delivering his official speech, presentation of awards will follow.
Cultural presentation from Women Resource department, TaFMA and cultural troupes of Angami, Khiamniungan and Rengma communities will form part of the entertainment section on the occasion.
Thereafter, the governor will inaugurate exhibition stalls at the plaza before proceeding to Raj Bhavan to host “At Home” programme on the occasion in the afternoon.
According to the official programme, there will be hoisting of National Flag in all government offices, institutions, public and private buildings at 6 am.
Nagaland’s DGP T John is scheduled to review the parade at 8:50 am at Secretariat Plaza.
The parade contingents consists of 1 Assam Rifles, 78 Batallion CRPF, Sechü-Zubza, 93 Batallion BSF,Chedema, DEF Kohima, 4th NAP Battalion, Thizama, 11th NAP (IR) Battalion, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Nagaland Police Brass Band, PTS and 14 Assam Rifles Pipe Band.
Nikho Venuh, deputy commandant, 10th NAP (IR) will be the parade commander with Ayangla Pongen, assistant commandant, 15th NAP Battalion as parade second in command.
The Republic Day will culminate by beating of retreat at around 4:30 pm in the evening.
