Nagaland: Thoktsur Village Guards celebrate golden jubilee
Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Thoktsur Village Guards celebrated its golden jubilee at Thoktsur village on October 31 with the advisor of Information and Public Relation and Village Guards, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, as the special guest.
A DIPR report stated that the special guest, in his address, stated the Village Guards (VG) personnel have rendered their invaluable service in guarding, protecting, and maintaining law and order in their respective areas.
Yimkhiung said their valuable services and sacrifices have been nationally recognised as the VG personnel had been conferred numerous awards in recognition of their meritorious service and sacrifices over the years.
He further urged the VG personnel to shun their differences to achieve development and progress in the remote area of the state and set an example of unity and strength by living in harmony.
Superintendent of Police, Noklak, Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, said that Village Guards are the one who guard places where the police personnel can’t reach.
“Beginning with 1957 and even during Merapani War, VGs have rendered their invaluable services and supreme sacrifices,” she said.
She also stated that people must salute them for their acts of bravery and heroism and urged the VG personnel to continue living to their good name.
Meanwhile, the advisor of Economics and Statistics and guest of honour, L Khumo, spoke on the need to live in unity, while the commandant of VG Noklak, K Heno, also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the dignitaries were received by the Thoktsur VG, followed by folk dance from Wui village dancing troupe.
