Nagaland: Tetso College celebrate 25th anniversary

Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): Tetso College in Dimapur, which was established on 1994, celebrated its 25th anniversary via online on December 4 with its founders Shasinle Lorin and Dr. P S Lorin unveiling the commemoration stone.

Conveying greetings on behalf of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the advisor to the chief minister and Technical Education in-charge and Election department, Medo Yhokha, said that the CM ‘congratulates the faculty member of the college for being the front runners in nurturing the people’.

With more and more occupations requiring advanced education, college degree has become imperative for people to succeed. It is heartening to know that the college gathers not only regular academic studies but also provides opportunities to students in different fields and profession, thus giving the students the preliminary preparation to choose different profession that would help then grow and succeed in life, read the message from Rio.

He acknowledged that the college has evolved with time, adapting to modern technologies by way of using its own mobile apps, online fee payment system for students and taking a lot of initiatives in research and innovation as well and that it will set the college apart from rest of the institutions.

He also acknowledged the college for taking up various activists such as annual Tetso inter-disciplinarian journals, E-books publications, conducting webinars, lectures series etc., adding that ‘these platforms are where one can share on different issues and which would go a long way in shaping and moulding the young generation when they come out to become leaders of a society’.

A strong foundation of knowledge and life skills, which are the primary tools to be successful in life and earning a accredited college degree, will ensure a sense of identity for the students and enable them to make a significant impact on other areas of life such as demonstrating healthier habits and improving life’s of those around them, the CM said.

He expressed hope that the college will continue to be known for not only in academic excellence but also in its contribution- actively serving, producing and nurturing responsible man and women for the community. He said that as the head of the government, his vision for the society is to create a suitable platform to enable each individual do their part in nation building.

The CM urged everyone to do their best and compete in every field, be it academic, sports or in any activity and requested the teachers and faculty members not to just concentrate in imparting bookish knowledge but to be in tune with the changing time and prepare the students to become leaders and bring about socio-economic development in the state.

In an environment of shared values of non-violence, equality and unity; dedicated to creating a peaceful environment by treating each individual with unconditional positive regard and acceptance and within such environment each student will be empowered and will be inspired to reach to his or her full academic, emotional, physical and spiritual potential, he said.

He went on urge the students, faculties and families to understand the school’s vision and mission to create a conclusive environment for overall learning, progress and development.

Let us remember that success does not happen just by chance but comes through hard work and embedding the core principles and values, he said and concluding by quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

On the occasion, the founding Principal of the college, Dr. P S Lorin said that ‘it is a day for all Tetso community to reflect on everything that has taken place over 25 years ago’, adding that they had varied moments — moments of deep reflection, sweat and tears, despair, hope, triumphs and immense joy; ‘throughout this they have never ceased to remember the almighty God for bringing all of their lives together in this manner to fulfil this purpose’.

Lorin also attributed to God’s love for what ‘Tetso College is today’.
