Nagaland: Strong winds cause power outages

Dimapur, April 16 (EMN): Strong winds which lashed across Nagaland on Friday (April 15) affected power supply in majority of the districts.
The gusty winds uprooted trees and many power lines snapped, causing power outage in Dimapur for hours, an official from Dimapur Power department said.
It was informed that due to the strong winds, many feeders including 11kv highway feeder, 11kv Chekiye, 11kv Duncan and Industrial feeders were shut down due to line snapping; while 33kv Supermarket, 33kv Forest colony, Metha 33 KV line, Purana Bazaar feeder, Khermahal feeder, 11kv Patkai and Dhansiripar were some of the few areas affected by Friday’s wind.
The department deployed its staff for restoration works following which the affected areas were restored.
On Saturday, Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung districts were reported to be under load shedding. Meanwhile, 33kv Changtongya, 33kv Aboi and 33kv Longkim feeders which were still undergoing restoration work till the time of filing this report.
