Nagaland street fitness event held in Kohima

KOHIMA — Fitness enthusiasts and gym-goers on Saturday came together to participate in several fitness competitions in an open arena marking the ninth edition of Nagaland street fitness.

This year, the event was held in the surroundings of the famed World War II Tank in Kohima.

A total of 97 athletes participated in competitions including arm wrestling, fitness man and woman, strongest gym and best physique.

One of the organisers, Yanpvuo Kikon, informed that the event was organised to promote fitness among the present generation as well as to encourage one another to stay strong and fit.

Actor and fitness enthusiast, Bendangmeren Ozukum, popularly known as Boss Meren, who was the star judge for the event, expressed happiness at the Naga youth active participation in fitness. He was of the opinion that fitness is not about competition but taking care of one’s health.

In the category of ‘Best Physique’ (men), the championship title was won by Kikrukhrielie (Khriezo) Dzeyie of Power Gym Kohima, while Tokito Sumi from Primal Fitness, Dimapur/ Chümoukedima, secured the runner-up title.

Hatdeiphal from IG Sports Academy, Kohima, won the championship title of ‘Best Physique’ in women category and Angel Tamang from Bodycraft gym in Dimapur won the runner-up title.

In the arm wrestling (men), Avilie Zuyie emerged as the champion, while

Francis was declared the runner-up winner. In the women’s category, Vikehenuo Zumvu and Hatdeiphal won the first and second positions respectively.

The Nagaland’s fittest man champion title was won by Luvoto Rhakho and the second prize was won by Atsi, while the fittest women champion title went to Norezono Kuotsu and the second position was won by Hatdiphal.

Battleground gym, Kohima won the strongest gym title.

The event was organised by Ketsieu Talie, Vizo Savi, Theja Kire, Yanpvuo Kikon with organising committee members Kenny Soru, Team Friction, Neli Dominic, Atsibu Üsou, Neingurano Kipu and Vikehenuo Zumvu.

Judges of the best physique included Boss Meren, Moalong Yaden and Etsi Ngullie.
