Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission conducts orientation for line departments at Jakhama

DIMAPUR — An orientation for line departments on the Block Level Coordination Committee (BLCC) for the Gram Panchayat Development Plan–Village Poverty Reduction Plan (GPDP–VPRP) and an orientation on the Block Level Gender Forum (BLGF) were held at the CMTC Hall, Jakhama, on Thursday.


The programme was organised by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), RD Block Jakhama, according to a DIPR report.


During the first session, Vilopi Angami, block development officer, RD Block Jakhama, presented an overview and orientation on the BLCC, highlighting the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in the effective implementation of the GPDP and VPRP.


He stated that the programme involves convergence with schemes of all related central ministries and line departments concerning the 29 subjects listed in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, which are highly relevant to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Vitsituo Mepfhü-o, block programme manager, NSRLM, BMMU, RD Block Jakhama, spoke on the objectives of the Gender Forum and its vital role in promoting gender equality and inclusiveness at the grassroots level. He emphasised that gender is socially constructed and also highlighted issues related to gender-based violence, the Gender Resource Centre, and counselling rooms.


The second session featured the Block Level Gender Forum meeting, chaired by Vineikho Tetso (NCS), sub-divisional officer (civil), Jakhama. The meeting discussed key gender-related issues, action plans, and strategies for empowering women through community-based interventions.


The programme concluded with an interactive exchange among participants, marking a step forward in strengthening convergence and gender inclusion at the block level.
