Nagaland Chess Association to host the Nagaland State FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2026 in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) will organise the Nagaland State FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2026 from July 16 to the 18th at the Nagaland Olympic Association Hall in Kohima.
For the first time, the state championship will be a FIDE-rated tournament, complying with the Fide laws of chess. The tournament will feature a total of eight rounds with a time control of 30 minutes plus a 30-second increment from move one.
According to an update, the 22nd edition of the championship carries a total prize fund of INR 2,02,000 and will feature seven categories: Open, Under-15, Under-11, Unrated, Female, Senior (60+ years), and Under-7.
In the Open category, the champion will receive INR 50,000 along with a trophy and certificate, the runner-up will receive INR 30,000, the third-place winner will receive INR 20,000, and the fourth-place winner will receive INR 10,000. Consolation prizes will be awarded to participants placing fifth to 10th.
For the other categories, the first-place winners will receive INR 8,000, second-place winners will receive INR 6,000, and third-place winners will receive INR 4,000. Consolation prizes will be given for fourth and fifth places.
The entry fee is INR 1,000 for the Open category and INR 500 for the age-group categories.
To participate, players must be registered members of the Nagaland Chess Association for 2026-2027, registered with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) for 2026-2027, and have paid the tournament entry fee.
