Nagaland: St. Joseph University students visit NBHM, NBRC
Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): Commerce department of St. Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur, organised an industrial visit for the B.Com students to Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission and Bamboo Research Centre on February 19.
An update from the university stated that the deputy team leader, Khuvozoyi Vese, welcomed the staff and students and explained the kinds of bees and the importance of honey with the special taste of Nagaland honey. He also informed about elements of cost, revenue and profit generation with the installation of bee colonies.
It stated that the industrial visit to Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission was an excellent learning experience for the students relating to business opportunities as well as exposure towards the beekeeping industry along with the process of manufacturing and packaging honey.
Later, the team visited the Nagaland Bamboo Research Centre (NBRC) located in Sovima village, Dimapur, where Kevin explained the functions and duties of NBDA with the resources available. According to him, the centre promotes bamboo-based industries like food products, medicinal, chemical products, alcohol beverages, craft, handicraft, art products, etc.
He also described the promotional activities done by NBDA to boost young entrepreneurs in bamboo-related projects.
Faculty of the university namely Keneisanuo Linyu, Alpana Dey and Dr. Selladurai led the team during the industrial visit.
