Nagaland: St. Joseph Global School commemorates birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Dimapur, Sep.29 (EMN): DMI St. Joseph Global School commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by organising various activities virtually on September 28.

Students of class 1 led a virtual class assembly on the theme ‘Gandhian Philosophy’, poster-making for class 2, practicing cleanliness at home for class 3, all faith prayer for class 5, drawing and art-making competitions  for class 6,  slogan writing for class 7, essay writing competition for class 8 on the topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi-the crusader against the Untouchability’, elocution on ‘Swadeshi Movement or Charkha and Khadi’ for class 9 and essay writing for class 10 on the topic ‘Dignity of Labour,’ an update read.

All the activities were centred on ‘Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings’. The students participated in the activities, especially in painting and drawing and art competitions and came up with interesting drawings and art pieces on the topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Charkha’.

In order to instil the sense of cleanliness among the children, the school conducted a virtual cleanliness drive at home for about ten minutes under the supervision of their parents, it read.

‘The parents of these children were highly appreciative of the school effort to enliven their children’s learning activities. Some of them expressed that regular weekly activities such as these should be conducted to de-stress and rejuvenate the young children during the pandemic. Interesting and innovative activities will boost up the spirit of the children, a parent said,’ the statement read.

Zulotola, a teacher from the department of Social Science, coordinated the program.
