KOHIMA — Nagaland won medals in a variety of disciplines at the 6th National Masters Games 2024, which took place in Goa from February 8 to 13, with the football team lifting the trophy in the 40+ men's category by defeating Kerala 2-1 in a thrilling final match on Tuesday.
Seyiekhrietuo Suohu and Vizoru Peseyie scored the winning goals in the fifth and fourteenth minutes, respectively, for the football team captained by Roko Angami, who is also the president of the Nagaland Football Coaches Association.
The team displayed incredible determination, conceding an early goal but quickly bouncing back with two goals in the following nine minutes.
Earlier, Nagaland won medals in the dart competition. Players representing the state won two gold medals in the doubles category, as well as gold and silver in the 40+ and open singles categories.
Burakum Ao and Vikepelhou Dzuvichü represented the state in the team doubles category, winning the championship. Ao also won the 40+ singles championship and finished second in the open singles.
The National Masters Games 2024 featured a variety of sports disciplines, including shooting, swimming, tennis, volleyball, bodybuilding, arm wrestling, basketball, chess, darts, and football.
