Nagaland: Shamator citizens demand medical amenities at CHC within 1 month
DIMAPUR: The Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) has expressed dismay over the lack of medical equipment, manpower and other necessary facilities at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Shamator, which was upgraded in 2014 primarily to act as a referral centre for patients from the neighbouring health centres requiring specialized health care-services.
In a representation to the principal director of Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, the forum stated that the CHC was designed to have facilities for indoor patients, operation theatre, labour room, X-Ray machine, pathological laboratory and standby generator with the complementary medical and adequate para medical staff, as well as equipped in the areas of medicine, surgery, pediatrics and gynecology, etc. but is still functioning with negligible facilities.
Maintaining that the plight of Shamator district citizens remains unheard despite pleas from various civil societies, the forum said that the failure to provide basic health amenities is a threat to the lives of the people.
It, on behalf of citizens from Shamator, appealed to the principal director to take cognizant of the issues faced by the people and take remedial measures within one month, failing which it said “the citizens will be compelled to seek justice through various platforms and any consequences thereupon, the concerned department shall be solely held responsible”.
