Nagaland: Several organisations condemn rape of minor girl in Dimapur
Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Several civil society organisations have condemned the alleged rape of a minor girl by a 43-year-old resident of Diphupar ‘B’ village in Dimapur and demanded the authorities for an exemplary punishment on the culprit.
KSU: The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has expressed shock at the alleged rape of a minor girl by a resident of Dimapur and condemned the “barbaric and inhuman act”. It has appealed to all the right-thinking citizens to condemn the heinous crime, stating that ‘such action has no place in a civilized society’.
‘Further the Konyak Students’ Union shall no longer condone such inhuman crime committed upon its fellow sister and shall resort to its own course of action in the event of justice not being delivered to the victim. Therefore the KSU strongly appeal to the concern authority to investigate into the matter and ensure that the accused is brought to book under the stringent penal provisions and secure the severest punishment to deter such offence in future,’ the statement read.
DPSU: Dimapur Phom Students’ Union (DPSU) has condemned the “inhuman and heinous act” of rape by a resident of Diphupar B, Dimapur, on a minor girl and appealed to the law enforcing agency to award severest punishment to such criminals as per the law of the land.
AO Senso Telongjem Dimapur: The AO Senso Telongjem Dimapur has condemned the heinous crime of rape on a minor girl by one of its members, saying that ‘such act of barbarism cannot be tolerated in a modern society and urged all right-thinking citizens to condemn such satanic deeds’.
“The union further stated that it will take its own course of action as per AO Naga customary law and usage in due course of time against the accused for callously demeaning the image and integrity of AO Community in Dimapur,” the condemnation message read.
It urged ‘the law enforcing authority to initiate thorough investigation as expeditiously as possible and upon proven guilty is awarded with a benefitting punishment as per the provision of law’. It also ‘expressed its solidarity and extended sincere sympathy to the victim and her family’.
Dayo: The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (Dayo) has condemned the alleged rape of a minor girl. Stating that “perpetrators of such heinous crimes cannot be tolerated in civilised society”, it has demanded the “law enforcing agencies to investigate thoroughly and deliver justice and punish the culprit as deemed under law at the earliest”.
“As a community, we are ashamed of presence of such people within our community and advice that no member of our community should try to bail out the alleged criminal and let the law take its own course unhindered,” the condemnation message read
“We also express our sympathy with the victim and pray that she will quickly recover from her mental and physical trauma and continue to live as any normal citizen in the society,” it added.
CSUD: The Chang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) has vehemently condemned the inhuman act against a minor girl in Dimapur and demanded that justice be served, while saying that “no life of a girl is safe in a society like this”.
“The Union urged upon the concerned law enforcing agency to give befitting punishment to the accused according to the rule of the law,” the statement read, adding that “no one has the right to mistreat/overuse its ability and harm an innocent. This heinous crime in our Naga society is totally unacceptable and should be condemned by one and all.”
Nagaland NGOs Forum: The Mon unit of the forum has condemned the sexual abuse on the minor girl in Dimapur, stating that such inhuman act will not be tolerated and urged the public to condemn such “shameful act”.
It also shared sympathy with the family of the victim and requested the concerned government agencies to rehabilitate the victim. It also demanded that the authorities give a befitting punishment to the accused.
