Nagaland: Several organisations condemn April 7 murder

  • DIMAPUR — More organisations have come forward condemning the murder of a 35-year-old vegetable vendor and mother of a 10-year-old near Pimla village in Chümoukedima on April 7 and demanding justice for the victim.

  • The Zeme Council Nagaland (ZCN), Tenyimi Union of Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima, Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH), Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO), Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Aqahuto Area GBs' Union, Aqahuto Area Students' Union (AASU), Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland, Chakhroma Students’ Union, Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO), Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation (DNYO), Dimapur Rengma Youth Organisation (DRYO), National Socialist Women's Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON), Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC) Nagaland, Chümoukedima Lotha Eloe Hoho, Chakhesang Mothers' Association, and Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) have all issued strong statements condemning the heinous crime.

  • The organisations expressed outrage over the brutal killing and called for a swift and impartial investigation, urging the authorities to apprehend and punish the perpetrator(s) without delay.

  • They also offered condolences to the bereaved family, prayed for the peace of the soul of the deceased, and extended solidarity with the Zeliangrong community, to which the victim belonged.

  • Several organisations have also highlighted the growing concern over the safety of women and the need for greater vigilance and justice to prevent such acts from recurring.
  •
