Nagaland Senior Open Athletics Championships 2023 to be held next month

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) has announced that the Nagaland Senior Open Athletics Championships 2023 will be held on November 16 and the 17th at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Informing that any indigenous inhabitant of Nagaland can participate in the competition, the association said interested athletes can visit its social media pages for details.

Competition for events namely 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10000m, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw will be organised for both men and women at the Nagaland Senior Open Athletics Championships 2023.

Athletes can participate by registering online by paying a fee of INR 100 per event and one person can compete in only two individual events. Documents including Aadhaar card will be accepted as valid document for registration which will close on November 6, said the update from NAA.

It went on to say that it will conduct Athletic Federation of India (AFI) registration drive, which is mandatory for athletes to participate in competition organised under the AFI. So, it requested all athletes to register themselves with the AFI on its website and obtain AFIUID number.

“Participants will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food. Athletes with promising performances during the meet will be selected for intensive state-level coaching camp,” read the update.
