Nagaland has sealed interstate borders to ensure peaceful polling
In view of the general election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Monday, February 27, Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie issued an order stating that all interstate borders will be sealed “for last 72 hours”, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) SOP, to prevent undesirable elements and materials being transported into assembly constituencies from outside and to apprehend them if they attempt to do so.
In this connection, DCP Dimapur/ Chumoukedima/ Niuland has been directed to ensure the following at every interstate entry point under respective areas of responsibility (AOR):
– Seal all check posts with effect from the evening of February 25 till the evening of February 27 and disallow any thoroughfare
– Intensify patrolling along the border and apprehend anyone attempting to crossover.
– Co-ordinate with neighbouring district authorities of bordering states to ensure proper sealing of border.

The order, however, stated that “for movement of essential commodities/ emergency services into the state should be coordinated with”.
The order came two days after Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sandeep M Tamgadge said that Nagaland will seal the inter-state and international borders (Indo-Myanmar border) to ensure a peaceful polling. Dimapur, Feb. 25 (EMN)
