Kohima, Dec. 17 (EMN): The golden jubilee celebrations of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) have concluded on Friday. The event was observed with the theme “One world, one goal” at the State Training Centre at Pheza in Nerhema in Kohima district.
Former chief minister of Nagaland Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, updates on Sunday informed.
In his address at the programme, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu congratulated the NSBSG for attaining 50 years, and paid rich tribute to the pioneers who formed the organization. According to data available in 2010, there are 2897 scouts and guides in the state. He urged the NSBSG to expand its units and organize more awareness programs to increase the figure.
The legislator said that there were around 4.2 million members in this worldwide movement which started with 20 boys in 1907 by Lord Baden Powell.
The former chief minister also said that worldwide movements such as the scouts and guides organisation inculcate the value of discipline, social service and a sense of patriotism which should be ‘highly appreciated by one and all across the world.’
Regretting that the present situation in Nagaland was ‘not so pleasant,’ according to the updates, Liezietsu called upon the people to work together ‘so that we can change the face of Nagaland.’ “Attitude of people needs to be changed. We must develop work culture and so many things,” he was quoted as having said at the event.
