Nagaland: School Education department reduces syllabus by 20%

Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): In pursuance to the decision taken by the government, Directorate of School Education has reduced the syllabus for classes 1 to 8 by 20% in view of Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the decision, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, has reduced the content in subjects like English Reader, English Grammar, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Hindi, Life Skill Education and Nagaland Heritage Studies for classes 1 to 7, a DIPR report stated on Friday.

All concerned are directed to note that the reduced syllabus prepared by SCERT contains subjects of class 8 as well. But, in regards to content reduction for class 8, schools should follow content reductions notified by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) vide Letter Nos. NBE-3/Ad-TB(10) 2020/567 Dated, 22nd May 2020 and NBE-30/Ad-VIII 2020-21/569 Dated, 23rd May 2020. 

The report also stated that copies of the revised syllabus could be downloaded from the department’s website ‘https://education.nagaland.gov.in. It further informed that the revised syllabus would come into force with immediate effect.
