SCA trainees undertake study tour to Sikkim

Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): Research, Demonstration and Training Centre under Soil and Water Conservation department at Sechü Zubza organised an educational and recreational two-day trip for SCA 21st batch trainees to Sikkim on November 2 and 3.

An update from the department stated that the tour was organised to explore and experience practically what the trainees have learned in their training.

The trainees visited the College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology (CAEPHT) at Ranipool in Gangtok. The trainees were briefed in the discipline of agricultural engineering and post harvest technology. They were also taught on other issues pertaining to natural resources management, micro irrigation system, farm mechanisation, post–harvest technology, processing and value addition, utilisation of renewable sources of energy, creation of agro-based industries etc. in the region.

The team also taken to ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids at Pakyong to provide research support to upcoming orchid industry, conserve and use orchid genetic resources available particularly in North-eastern region.

SCA trainees were taken on sight-seeing to Nathula Pass and Tsomgo Lake.

A total of 38 trainees were accompanied by Zuchumi Ovung, ASCO; Neizovolie Miachieo, junior lecturer; Kevileto Rote, ARO; and Pango Lea, SCA.
