Dimapur, Aug. 19 (EMN): A week-long youth training programme organised by the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO), in collaboration with various government departments and other civil society organizations, culminated at Thiazu in Mima village under Kohima district on August 19.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Medo Yhokha, advisor of Technical Education and Election, stated that advancement in the society would start with the commitment of the youth. He expressed hope that the youth training would bear deep meaning and inspire the youth to explore their strength and resources to build a vibrant, dynamic society.
Yhokha stated that the society would not progress if one confine oneself within the village with rigid mindsets.
The advisor added that the training was an investment for the youth to nurture and identify skills and talents.
During the training, the department of Tourism imparted sessions on areas of Tourism and tourist guide, while the Nagaland Association for Adventure and Mountaineering Education (NAAME) gave practical session on trekking, tour guiding tips and techniques, sports, mountaineering and yoga.
The district disaster management authority, Kohima, has demonstrated on relief and rescue operation. Other activities included physical fitness training and arm wrestling competition.
Altogether, 87 youths from the 13 villages of the Southern Angami region attended the training and were awarded certificate.
