Dimapur — Under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), since its inception in 2017-18, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned a total of INR 333.62 crore to Nagaland for 17 projects.
This was informed by the Union Minister for DoNER, G Kishan Reddy, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
DoNER approved 145 projects totaling INR 3392.99 crore for the region, including 33 projects worth INR 880.82 crore for the state of Assam, making it the highest beneficiary under NESIDS. Following closely is Arunachal Pradesh, with 29 projects sanctioned, amounting to INR 623.87 crore.
Mizoram received a total of 17 projects amounting to INR 345.38 crore, while Manipur has been sanctioned INR 341.32 crore for 18 projects.
Meghalaya has been allotted 12 projects valued at INR 340.50 crore, Tripura has secured 11 projects totaling INR 312.97 crore, and Sikkim has been granted eight projects worth INR 214.51 crore.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Reddy stated that the ministry has taken a number of initiatives to ensure the completion of the ongoing projects, and the release of funds for the projects is linked to the physical and financial progress of the work.
The ministry releases funds through the public finance management system (PFMS) to ensure ‘just-in-time’ release. Furthermore, the state governments of the region have been instructed to implement the expenditure-advance-transfer (EAT) modules of PFMS for tracking the funds released under the scheme.
The union minister also mentioned that the ministry conducts regular review meetings with state governments at the senior level and undertakes field visits to monitor progress.
The ministry has designated nodal officers and chief nodal officers for each state for better coordination with state governments and to facilitate the execution and follow-up of the projects in the respective states.
