Dimapur, Aug. 19 (EMN): The commissioner and secretary of Social Welfare and administrator NSSWB, Martha R Ritse, inaugurated Sakhi-One Stop Centre office building in Zunheboto on August 18.

A DIPR report stated that the commissioner and secretary, in her inaugural address, expressed concern that in the last three years, Zunheboto district had registered only 20 cases relating to violence against women and children.

Martha stated that if the data was correct, then Zunheboto district could be declared as one of the safest places for women and children. She, however, stated that if many of the cases relating to violence against women and children were not registered or go unreported, then it is cause of concern for everyone.

She appealed to the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto to coordinate with the departments concerned to get the actual picture of crime against women and children. She also lauded the district administration headed by the deputy commissioner for ensuring the building to come up in a stipulated time despite many challenges. She further exhorted the department staff to work with utmost sincerity.

The deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, in his welcome address, lauded the efforts of Sakhi-One Stop Centre so far even though it had been functioning in a rental building with certain limitations. The DC also assured that the district administration would always be approachable at times of need.

The programme began with the unveiling of the inaugural stone and invocation by youth assistant pastor of ZTSBC, Nipato. Speech on behalf of the Social Welfare department was delivered by director, Tosheli Zhimomi and the vote of thanks was delivered by EAC and nodal officer OSC Zunheboto, Mopling M Phom.
