Nagaland reports single-day rise of 60 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death

Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 60 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the tally to 30,840 and active caseload to 491.

The state’s cumulative recoveries also rose to 28,752 with 37 more patients having recuperated in the last 24 hours, while the death toll increased at 639 with one fatality being reported.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 21 positive cases were reported in Tuensang, 20 in Dimapur, 12 in Kohima, five in Phek, and one each in Mokokchung and Peren. 

Of the 37 new recoveries, 14 were in Dimapur, 10 in Mokokchung, six in Tuensang, five in Kohima, and two in Phek.

Nagaland currently has 491 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 382 are asymptomatic, 78 mild, eight moderate on oxygen, 13 severe on oxygen, four in ICU without ventilator, and six in ICU on ventilator.

In regard to the district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur leads with 252 active cases, followed by Kohima with 101, 56 in Mokokchung, 23 in Tuensang, 21 in Phek, 20 in Wokha, eight in Kiphire, six in Zunheboto, three in Peren, and one in Mon, while Longleng is currently Covid-free.

India logs 35662 cases

India reported 35,662 more coronavirus infections on Saturday, taking the country’s tally to 3,34,17,390, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

It said the death toll climbed to 4,44,529, with 281 more fatalities, while the number of active cases rose  to 3,40,639.

The recovery of 33,798 patients in the last 24 hours increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,26,32,222.

It stated that with the administration of more than 2.5 crore vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage surpassed 79 crore (79,42,87,699).
