Nagaland reports 92 fresh Covid cases

: Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 92 fresh Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday, taking the tally to 33, 259 and active caseload to 570.

The state’s cumulative recoveries also increased to 30,693 with the recovery of 29 more patients in the last 24 hours. The death toll remained unchanged at 688 with no fresh deaths reported on Thursday. 

According to data from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 67 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, 18 in Kohima, six in Peren and one in Mokokchung. Meanwhile, 17 in Dimapur, six in Kohima, two each in Mokokchung and Tuensang, one each in Peren and Phek recovered during the same period.

Out 570 active cases in the state, 505 are asymptomatic, 59 mild, three moderate on oxygen, one severe on oxygen and one severe on oxygen without ventilator.

In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 446 infections, 86 in Kohima, 16 in Peren, seven in Mokokchung, five in Phek, three each in Zunheboto and Mon, and one each in Wokha, Kiphire and Tuensang, while Longleng is currently Covid-free.  

India reports 3,17,532 new cases

India logged 3,17,532 new coronavirus infections on Thursday taking the tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,82,18,773, which includes 9,287 cases of the Omicron variant, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

The active cases rose to 19,24,051, the highest in 234 days, while the death toll climbed to 4,87,693 with 491 fresh fatalities, the data stated.

There has been a 3.63% increase in Omicron cases since Wednesday, the Ministry said.

The active cases comprise 5.03% of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 93.09%, the ministry said.

2,23,990 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic is now at 3,58,07,029.

Meanwhile, with the administration of more than 73 lakh (73,38,592) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 159.67 crore (1,59,67,55,879).
