Nagaland reports 40 new Covid-19 cases; 14K in India

Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 40 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the state’s Covid tally to 31,611.
The state’s cumulative recoveries also increased to 29,667 with 28 more patients having recuperated in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the death toll stands at 659 with no death reported in the last 24 hours.
According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 24 positive cases were reported in Tuensang, six in Longleng, five in Kohima, three in Dimapur, and one each in Phek and Wokha.
Of the 28 new recoveries, 14 were reported in Kohima, six in Tuensang, five in Dimapur, two in Phek and one in Mokokchung.
Nagaland currently has 248 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 176 are asymptomatic, 50 mild, six moderate on oxygen, 10 severe on oxygen, one in ICU without ventilator, and five in ICU ventilator.
In regard to the district-wise distribution of Covid-19 cases, Dimapur has the highest number of positive cases with 123 active cases, followed by Kohima with 51, 30 in Tuensang, 21 in Mokokchung, eight each in Longleng and Phek, three in Mon, two in Peren and one each in Kiphire and Wokha, while Zunheboto, is currently Covid-free.
India reports 14,146 new cases
India recorded 14,146 fresh Covid-19 infections on Sunday, taking the country’s tally to 3,40,67,719 according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
It said the death toll climbed to 4,52,124 with 144 more fatalities.
Meanwhile, the active cases dropped to 1,95,846 with the recovery of 19,788 patients in the last 24 hours.
It stated that with the administration of 41,20,772 vaccine doses, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 97.65 crore (97,65,89,540).
