Nagaland reports 223 new Covid cases, 14 more deaths

Dimapur, May 23 (EMN):  Nagaland on Sunday reported 223 new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the state’s active caseload to 4678, and total tally to 20068.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, in a Twitter update, informed that Kohima had reported 78 new cases, Dimapur 77, Tuensang 23, Phek 14, Longleng 11, Zunheboto 10, Mokokchung five, Mon three and Kiphire two.

It was also informed that 137 positive patients had recovered on Sunday pushing the total recoveries to 14,500. The district-wise data of the recoveries are Dimapur-95, Kohima-26, Tuensang and Mon five each, Peren and Phek three each.

Meanwhile, the state also reported 14 more deaths pushing the Covid death tally to 274.

2.40 lakh cases reported

India reported  2,40,842 (2.40 lakh) new cases in the last 24 hours; however, with 3,55,102 (3.55 lakh) recoveries  registered in the last 24 hours, the total active caseload dropped to 28,05,399, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

It said that seven states cumulatively accounted for 66.88% of India’s total active cases.

Moreover, 3,741 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 19.50 crore under the Phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive on Sunday.

 A total of 19,50,04,184 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,00,808 sessions. These include 97,52,900 HCWs who have taken the first dose and 67,00,614 HCWs who have taken the second dose;  1,49,52,345 FLWs (1st dose), 83,26,534 FLWs (2nd dose), 99,93,908 beneficiaries under 18-44 age group (1st dose), 6,06,90,560 (1st dose) and 97,87,289 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years; 5,65,55,558 1st dose beneficiaries and 1,82,44,476 2nd dose beneficiaries of more than 60 years old.
