Nagaland reports 159 new Covid-19 cases; 2.64 lakh in India

Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 159 fresh Covid-19 positive cases on Friday, taking the tally to 32, 775 and active caseload to 371.

The state’s cumulative recoveries also increased to 30,480 with recovery of 24 more patients – 23 in Dimapur and one in Kohima — in the last 24 hours, while the death toll remained unchanged at 687 with no fresh fatalities reported.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 145 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, 11 in Kohima, two in Tuensang and one in Phek.

Out of 371 active cases in the state, 339 are asymptomatic, 23 mild, eight moderate on oxygen and one severe on oxygen.

In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 312 infections, 34 in Kohima, 16 in Tuensang, five in Mokokchung, three in Peren and one in Phek, while the rest of the districts are currently Covid-free. 

5753 Omicron cases in India so far

India added 2,64,202 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the highest in 239 days, taking the country’s tally to 3,65,82,129, including 5,753 cases of the Omicron variant, according to the data provided by the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll climbed to 4,85,350 with 315 fresh fatalities reported in the past 24 hours and the active caseload increased to 12,72,073.

The Health ministry also went on to update that 1,09,345 patients had recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3,48,24,706.

As many as 155.39 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.
