DIMAPUR — Nagaland has a total of 75,056 MSMEs registered under the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP), of which 48,313 are micro enterprises, 174 small enterprises, 16 medium enterprises, and 26,553 informal micro enterprises.
While category-wise distribution shows that 99 percent fall under micro enterprises, 0.9 percent under small enterprises, and 0.07 percent under medium enterprises.
Of the total registered MSMEs, 63 percent belong to the manufacturing sector, while 37 percent operate in the service sector.
In Nagaland, the thrust sectors include agriculture and allied activities, floriculture, food processing, plantation-based industries (coffee, tea, and bamboo), handicrafts and handloom, apiculture, and sericulture.
It may be noted that thrust sectors refer to specific industries identified by the state government as high-potential areas for economic growth.
As per the Udyam data, Nagaland has a total of four industrial estates, with two located in Dimapur, and one each in Mon and Kiphire. In addition, the state has eight industrial growth centres and one industrial infrastructure development centre located in Kohima.

According to a representative of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) project, the expected outcome under the project to promote the ‘Made in Nagaland’ initiative is to provide advanced capacity-building support to more than 10,000 MSMEs with experts at the district level.
This was informed during the Export State Summit 2026.
Under the initiative, a total of 750 MSMEs will receive intensive mentorship programmes, 100 MSMEs will be onboarded onto e-commerce platforms, and they will also participate in three national exhibitions, while 100 products will be developed under the food, handloom, and handicraft sectors, while 250 MSMEs will gain market access through the Naturally Nagaland Centre.
The Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme, a World Bank-supported central scheme, was launched in Nagaland in 2024 and will conclude in March 2027.
The objectives of RAMP are to enhance market access, facilitate access to finance, strengthen institutions and governance, boost competitiveness, improve skilling, and catalyse the greening of MSMEs.
